Green Industry Eco-Scapes Specialist offers Workshop through County Adult Ed Program

Richmond, VA… January 29, 2008 … Richmond based The Wright – consultant, lecturer, & wordsmith, Sylvia Hoehns Wright a freelance landscape/garden designer and columnist is offering a multi-night workshop, Landscape/Garden Design for the Hands-on Homeowner, through the Henrico County Adult Ed program. For details, see web site special interest 807, www.henrico.k12.va.us/adulteducation . The workshop starts Wednesday March 5th and registration began January 10th.

Whether experienced or a novice, the challenge for a present-day homeowner is to be a naturalist with a “waste not, want not” ecological commitment: a caretaker of the environmental community. Wright’s landscape/garden workshop identifies design strategies that respect an existing vista as well as preserve and enhance its health. She teaches that for any style garden, plants should not be selected simply to provide contrast of structure, texture, and color, but make environmental contributions.
